Dùthchas—pronounced DOO-khuss—is a Scottish Gaelic word with no exact English translation. It speaks of belonging to a place: its land, memory, ancestry, and the relationship between them.
Each Dùthchas is individually commissioned and created to order. It begins with four elements held in common: red Appalachian clay gathered beside Middle Island Creek, rich earth from the surrounding woods, West Virginia salt drawn from the ancient Iapetus Sea beneath the Appalachian Mountains, and a few tiny creek-worn stones.
From there, I intuitively select and arrange the natural materials that complete it. These may reflect the woods, fields, creek banks, and season in which your Dùthchas is created. The photographs shown are examples only. No two will ever look alike.
Once your Dùthchas is complete, it is accompanied by an intuitive message received and written specifically for the person it was created for.
NATURAL MATERIALS
Every Dùthchas is made with natural, organic materials that have been carefully dried but remain otherwise untreated.
Because these materials are natural, they may subtly settle, shift, fade, curl, or change in color and texture over time. These changes are part of the piece’s continuing relationship with nature and are not considered flaws.
CARE
Dùthchas is a decorative work of art.
Keep the vessel corked, upright, and indoors in a dry, stable environment. Keep it away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, high humidity, and sudden changes in temperature. Avoid bathrooms, damp areas, and sunny windowsills.
Do not shake the vessel. Clean only the outside with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid moisture around the cork. Handle carefully and keep out of reach of small children and pets.
Each glass vessel measures approximately 3½ inches tall. Because every Dùthchas is created individually from natural materials, its appearance and arrangement will vary.

Each Dùthchas is carefully packed for shipping. If protective packing material has been placed inside the vessel, simply remove and discard it upon arrival, then replace the cork.
