What Is Intuitive Energy Work? How Is It Different From Reiki?

If you’ve ever looked into energy work, there’s a good chance Reiki is one of the first things you came across. It’s one of the most widely recognized forms of energy work, and it’s often the language people use when they’re trying to find this kind of support.

But energy work is a much bigger world than Reiki.

Reiki is part of my background, but it’s only one part. Over the years, I’ve trained as a Usui Reiki Master, Kundalini Reiki Master, Quantum Practitioner, and Animal Reiki practitioner. That training has given me a broad foundation, but today I don’t define my work by any one modality.

I simply call it intuitive energy work.

I draw from years of training, experience, and a lifetime of intuitive awareness, but I don’t begin a session thinking, Today I’m going to use Reiki, or This needs quantum work. I pay attention to the person or animal I’m working with, listen to what comes forward, and let the work develop from there.

I listen first.

So, Is Intuitive Energy Work the Same as Reiki?

Not exactly.

Reiki is one form of energy work. It has its own teachings, practices, and traditions. My training in Reiki is part of the foundation I bring to my work, but an intuitive energy session with me isn’t limited to Reiki.

I don’t work from a predetermined formula.

Every person is different. Every animal is different. And every session is different.

Sometimes someone comes to me knowing exactly what they want to address. Other times, they simply know that something feels off, heavy, stuck, or different, and they can’t quite put their finger on why.

Either is enough.

Quite often, someone comes to me for one thing and we end up uncovering something they weren’t expecting at all.

That’s part of why I leave room for the work to unfold instead of deciding ahead of time what a session is supposed to look like.

What Happens During an Intuitive Energy Work Session?

My sessions are done remotely, so you don’t need to be in West Virginia, or even anywhere near me, to work with me.

There’s no phone call or Zoom required. When you book, you reserve a day for your session. I do the work remotely that day and record the session as I work, so you can hear what I’m noticing, what comes forward, and where the session leads.

Afterward, you receive an audio recording and a written transcript, so you can go back through the session in your own time.

Because I work intuitively, I’m not following a checklist or deciding beforehand which modality I’m going to use. I pay attention to the person, the energy, and what begins to come forward.

Sometimes that means the session goes exactly where we thought it would.

Sometimes it doesn’t.

And honestly, that’s often where things get interesting.

What About Intuitive Energy Work for Animals?

Animals are a significant part of my work as well.

My background includes training as an Animal Reiki practitioner. My work as an Animal Energy practitioner includes both energy work and communication, allowing me to listen to the animal while also paying attention to what is happening energetically.

Just as I do with people, I don’t approach every animal with a predetermined method.

An animal may be dealing with a change in behavior, stress, a transition, a physical concern being addressed by their veterinary team, or something their person simply doesn’t understand.

Sometimes the question is, What is my animal trying to tell me?

Sometimes it’s, Something has changed. Can you help me understand what’s going on?

My Animal Communication & Healing sessions bring communication and intuitive energy work together, allowing the session to unfold according to the individual animal and what comes forward.

What If I Was Searching for Reiki?

You may have arrived here because you were searching for Reiki, Reiki healing, distance Reiki, remote Reiki, or remote energy work.

That makes sense.

Reiki is a familiar term, and sometimes it’s simply the first language we have for something we’re trying to find.

But you don’t need to know which modality you need before working with me.

In fact, you don’t need to know much about energy work at all.

My job isn’t to fit you into a particular method. It’s to meet you where you are, pay attention to what comes forward, and work from there.

How Do I Know If Intuitive Energy Work Is Right for Me?

You don’t have to be falling apart.

You also don’t have to arrive with a perfectly worded explanation of what’s wrong.

Maybe there’s something specific you want to address. Maybe you’ve been feeling stuck. Maybe the same pattern keeps showing up and you don’t understand why. Or maybe you simply have the sense that something needs your attention.

You can start there.

You don’t have to understand exactly how energy work works to experience it, and you don’t have to share my beliefs or see the world the way I do. There’s no particular belief system required.

You can come to the work curious, skeptical, somewhere in between, or simply open to seeing what the experience brings.

And you don’t need to choose between Reiki, Quantum Energy Work, or another modality before you book.

That’s not your job.

You bring yourself and whatever is going on in your life.

I listen.

And we see where the work leads.
