Since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to what others often overlooked. Sometimes it was something I could see. Sometimes it was something I could simply feel.

I’ve always paid attention to the things most people walk past.

Looking back, I realize that simple habit has shaped everything I do.

Whether I’m creating a photograph, gathering stones from a creek, or connecting with someone through my healing work, it always begins the same way.

I slow down.

I pay attention.

And I listen.

Everything I create grows from that place.

Every photograph begins long before I ever press the shutter. It begins with slowing down, paying attention, and waiting for the moment to reveal itself.

The finished image simply becomes a way of sharing what was already there.

Appalachian Waterstones begins the same way.

I’ve spent a lifetime wandering the creeks of Appalachia, noticing what most people simply walk past.

Every now and then, certain stones speak to me.

Those are the ones that come home with me, waiting for the day they become part of someone else’s story.
